You will join a growing team of health services researchers, with expertise in qualitative methods,
quantitative methods, and health economics, undertaking research on the supply, organisation, valuation and evaluation of clinical genetics services. The position is focussed on developing a patient-led, evidence-based model for providing genetic services to families with inherited forms of eye disease that lead to loss of vision (retinal dystrophy).
Key responsibilities will include: gathering, reviewing and synthesising research literature; assisting in the design and development of data collection instruments, including interview schedules and surveys; interviewing; data entry and analysis; and contributing to the preparation of scientific papers under the supervision of senior health services researchers. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team involving researchers and clinicians, so good oral and written communication skills and enthusiasm for collaboration will be essential.
Experience of using qualitative research methods and/or experience in the application of quantitative survey and economic methods is required. You should have a good first degree or equivalent in sociology, psychology, economics or a discipline relevant to health services research. Applications from graduate health professionals (e.g. nursing) with a specialist interest in genetic conditions will also be considered.
This position is tenable for 18 months in the first instance.
