Job Purpose

• To oversee the membership team and office.
• To assist the membership team with increasing the revenue of the business through the sale of membership to prospective members.
• To assist the membership team in dealing with existing members, membership queries and administration.
• To ensure that Key Performance Indicators are met by the membership team and to continually monitor their performance.
• To gain awareness of the facilities to assist with the sale of memberships and to generate leads.
• To increase the revenue of the business through the sale of membership to prospective members.
• Accountable for ensuring the team meets target.


Person Specification

The position of Sales Manager at Total Fitness is to manage and develop the membership team to ensure they continue to sell membership at an optimum level.

The Sales Manager is responsible for assisting the membership team with dealing with prospective and existing members on a daily basis to ensure the continuing growth of the membership at each Club.

A Sales Manager must be aware of all the issues that relate to the smooth operation of the Club on a day-to-day basis to ensure that they are able to filter the correct information about the Club and details of any promotions that are running to their membership team.

The ideal candidate must be a team player with excellent interpersonal skills, and a high level of enthusiasm and commitment. They will be dynamic, adaptable, able to communicate effectively at all levels and will endeavour to lead by example in terms of their job performance, sales technique and overall conduct. A sales background is essential.


Duties and Responsibilities

• To lead, motivate and manage the sales team to achieve Company targets.
• To be responsible for the performance of the membership team and address any performance / staffing issues.
• To assist with the training of new and existing members of the membership team.
• To produce and analyse weekly and monthly SDA reports to review the performance of the membership team.
• To be responsible for ordering stock for the sales office and co-ordinating mail merges for membership correspondence.
• To effectively and confidently fulfil the role and responsibilities of a Membership Consultant.
• To be responsible for organising / providing cover for holidays and sickness to ensure that staffing levels remain at Company minimum. Such cover must also be communicated to the Regional Manager.
• To ensure the sales team meets their month end targets.
• To be fully up to date with promotional activities and to ensure they are correctly implemented and actioned.
• To hold one to one meetings on a weekly basis with members of the team to set action plans.
• To hold monthly team meetings to focus the team and plan for the month ahead.
• To attend monthly regional meetings and present sales team performance at this meeting.
• To complete all aspects of the sales audit and key performance indicators, with the aim of keeping the team at an outstanding level.
• To ensure the team are achieving on a monthly basis standards as set down by the company with regard to the sales audit.
• To continually generate new business by co-ordinating corporate visits.
• To be involved in the planning and implementation of Company promotions and outreach.
• To attend the necessary training courses as provided by the Company to keep up to date with changes to computer packages used by the sales team and to continue to develop existing sales techniques and performance of the sales team.
• To ensure that a competitor analysis is carried out on a regular basis, in order to provide information which can be used positively when selling the club.
• To compile the departmental monthly rota in line with business requirements.
• To be available to cover at other Clubs and work extra hours when and where necessary.
• To maintain regular and effective communication with, membership team, Regional Manager, and Group Sales Manager.
• To comply with all statutory company legislation.
