Full Description:

My client is a large, blue-chip financial organisation and they're looking for an experienced Capacity Manager to start as soon as possible and enhance the existing Capacity Planning team in Manchester.

The role will encompass the following:

Mainframe
Monitor the existing Mainframe infrastructure and provide weekly updates on usage.
Using SAS/MXG to extract SMF data and fit into existing matrixes for financial charging and overall system usage reports.
Implement SAS/MXG extracts of SMF data to consolidate existing processes.
Write new, or amend existing, reporting jobs to current standards with full documentation.
Produce workload profiles for projects, working with the project teams and mainframe support team, highlighting any future usage that may affect the capacity or performance of the mainframe.
Produce usage trend forecasts highlighting when upgrades to the existing system infrastructure may be required.

Mid-Range
Monitor the current Mid-Range estate and produce period reports and trend analysis for current services.
Introduce NSM agents onto new and existing servers ensuring that O/S specific requirements are maintained.
Write and document SAS batch processing to collect and store NSM data.
Write and document SAS batch process to summarise stored NSM data, produce charts where necessary and store on the existing intranet site.
Write and document SAS batch process to compare summarised results with server SLA and highlight breeches to thresholds.
Work with project teams to implement new services and produce a reporting process to highlight changes in their SLA.


The following technical skills are required for this role:

Mainframe Capacity Planning Technical Skills:
Full understanding of MVS Operating System
SAS/MXG
Full understanding of SMF extraction processing
Full knowledge of data extraction and report production
OMEGAMON
ITIL Capacity Planning concepts and methodologies

Mid-Range Capacity Planning Skills
Unicentre NSM. To include installation and configuration of agents
SAS/MXG
ITIL Capacity Planning concepts and methodologies
