Our client is a market leading retailer and is listed as a top 500 most successful company across 18 European countries. On the back of a record sales year in 2007, our client has plans to significantly increase sales growth in 2008. Part of this strategy includes the launch and implementation of own label brands and brand development. As a direct result of the above plans our client is looking for a retail buyer to join their new team.
Role Focus:
As part of the trading team the primary scope of the role will be to focus on own brand retail buying and product development. There will be a heavy focus on sourcing and buying retail product ranges from around the globe in order to reaffirm our client as the market leading retailer in its sector. You will be expected to travel internationally in order to complete negotiation processes and to identify the best products available.
Key Responsibilities:
· Achieve margin targets for specific category as laid out in Business Plan
· Responsibility for portfolio of products within the Department
· Support the Implementation of range strategy as laid out in Business Plan.
· Development and creation of new sku`s
· Develop effective relationships with functional units such as Replenishment, Merchandising, Marketing, Retails and Logistics to resolve issues/improve efficiencies
· Monitor competitor retail product range and price
· Establish new retail market opportunities
· Establish and nurture new and existing suppliers

The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be from an FMCG buying background (either buyer / assistant buyer level) and or ideally will have own brand development experience.
