    JOB SPECIFICATION: DEBT ADVISOR

    Purposes
    The Debt Advisor is the callers first point of direct contact with Personal Debt Helpline and it is, therefore, crucial that a friendly, patient and professional approach is used from the start.

    The primary purposes of Personal Debt Helplines Debt Advisor are to:

    1.Collect accurate personal and financial information and enter it directly into Personal Debt Helplines computerized Debtsolv system.
    2.Use Personal Debt Helplines procedures to determine the best advice for each caller as to the way out of their debt problem.
    3.Forward the caller to the appropriate supplier/advisor where necessary.

    Accountabilities
    To answer all inbound calls effectively using the training, procedures and equipment provided by Personal Debt Helpline.
    To speak to Personal Debt Helplines clients in a friendly, professional and respectful manner using the approach and script notes provided during training.
    To forward callers to the appropriate supplier as indicated by Debtsolv.
    Develop and maintain productivity to ensure that all team and department targets are achieved and then exceeded.
    To make outbound calls as required to contact clients and to assist other departments in chasing documents or information.
    To take part in performance monitoring procedures including: Performance Appraisals, regular feedback and quality review sessions.
    To attend Personal Debt Helpline meetings and training sessions with a view to continuing personal development and improving working standards and practices.
    To work as part of a team under the close supervision of the Call Centre Team Leader.

    Required skills and attributes
    Basic arithmetic (using a calculator to add, subtract, multiply and divide)
    Basic grammar and writing skills.
    The ability to listen carefully to callers, question and probe effectively for the accurate personal and financial information required.
    The ability to talk to callers in a empathetic, friendly, patient and conversational manner.
    To work within a inbound and outbound call centre environment.
    To work within a closely supervised team based organization.
