My client is looking to recruit a Software Developer for a contract role lasting 6 - 9 months based in Cheadle with a salary up to £225 per day.
Purpose of this role:
Designs, documents, codes, tests and corrects moderately complex real-time SCADA systems from supplied specifications, using agreed standards and tools.
Background
Main Duties and Responsibilities Part of a team of software designers and developers working on a real-time project in the water industry. Responsible for the design, coding, testing and configuration using:
 Windows 2003 and XP Operating systems.
 Object oriented databases implemented using Wonderware Archestra platform.
 HCI graphics using Wonderware InTouch.
 Installation, configuration and test of OPC servers for HMI clients.
 Data Acquisition drivers using OPC, Wonderware's Suitelink and Microsoft DDE communication protocols for PLC's and RTU's e.g. Allen Bradley (Native and DNP3), BBL Network 3000, GEM80.
 Relational database management using open database standards such as SQL, ODBC for ORACLE and MS SQL databases.
 Report writing using Crystal Reports, Active Factory.
 Publishing reports for Web-based users
Key Tasks To prepare and document systems ready for System Integration and Factory Acceptance tests.

Qualifications and Training:
Degree-qualified or equivalent
Work Experience, Skills and Knowledge:
Essential:
 Experience of real-time systems and communication protocols
 Software engineer with a minimum of 3 years systems experience
 C++ experienced
 Windows Based solutions using Windows 2003, XP.
 PC skills to include Microsoft WORD and EXCEL
Desirable:
 Knowledge of Wonderware Application Server and In-Touch packages
 Experienced in administration and maintenance of relational databases
 Experience of writing PLC and RTU data acquisition software
 Knowledge of Water Industry
